In 1997, Missouri designated the paddlefish as the state’s official aquatic animal. The paddlefish can be found in the Mississippi and Missouri river.

The red fox can be found statewide, but is most common in the northern and western regions of Missouri.

The oaks and hickories are very important members of Missouri's forests. About three-fourths of the trees you will find in our forests will be either an oak or a hickory tree. Â
